We genuinely would have been deep in a relegation battle. See last half of last season for details

It would have given the negative brigade something to spunk over as they are at a loose end with all this positivity and success. They wouldn't have to tediously keep harping back to the moaning days that they miss so much.

There would be no Shexy football as Gullit used to say.

The suicide rate in Essex would have gone up.

Would have held on for a 0-1 defeat in the games we came back in this season.

Bloke's got a damage-limitation mentality which only goes away in must-win games (and even then, not entirely).

The players would have had a nice boozy trip to Dubai whilst fatty took care of some personal business engagements

If BFS had stayed as our manager the most likely outcome is that Sunderland would have been relegated.

The only boring bollocks is the people who can't stop talking about him. He's gone, we've got better, and he's done well at Sunderland. Move on.

i'm with you there 1964

he did what was asked. and he's done it again at sunderland.

over the moon with the bilic appointment and improvement, but we needed a couple of years of big sam boring us to death, not to mention the cut throat business attitude of brady, to get us sorted as a club.

as noble put it, we're not a circus act any more

FFS - Sam did OK for us, he's gone, forget him and move on.

Team of grafters signed with the tactics to whack it into the box, often for nobody to get anywhere near. Lack of creativity or flair in the team. He would bemoan us missing chances when we only had 2 shots the whole match.
Sullivan would have signed a couple of players he likes who would never make the bench as fatty refused to pick them and we would have ended up mid table still.
I doubt we would have taken many points from the top sides but would have probably won more against the lower teams with the focus being on set plays, particularly corners where we have an advantage.

I think overall Sam did alright for us and signed some good players but he is such an arrogant and stubborn manager with a philosophy that is based of survival and not entertainment.
Given so much focus is on surviving for the teams he's managed then it's perhaps not surprising.
